WINDOW DISPLAYS

Siwy is a New York based denim company. They commissioned me to install two different window displays at American Rag Cie in West Hollywood. Both displays were in the exact same display space for two different seasons.

The first window display was for the Fall 'Lovesick' line which was a black and white denim wash with a hint of pink, that season they were offering skinnys so we used the actual washed denim as the backdrop for the job space. We wanted to go with the nature of the display space which was really small so we turned the display space into a Siwy Denim fitting room complete with faux mirror, it was designed to make you as the observer feel like a voyeur. Two mannequins striking a similar pose along with the overhead lettering that was a reflection of itself communicated that there was a full mirrored wall when there actually was not. I hand painted the Siwy brand logo on the front glass.

The second was for the Siwy Spring season 'He Loves Me'. For the backdrop I printed a 4-color image of a girl in a frenzy simulating, "he loves me, he loves me not". I built a faux garden by angling a wooden platform and wrapping it in astroturf then drilled holes to plant faux flowers of various heights. Our team spent hours disassembling faux flowers, separating pedals from their stems then hot glued the pedals to long strands of fishing wire to simulate flailing flowers flying through the air. Overhead lighting helped achieve the illusion of flower pedals flying through the air. For the Spring season Siwy was offering skinnys as well as shorts so we added shorts floating though the air.
